ASRock Z77 Extreme4 (LGA1155) Gaming Motherboard
The ASRock Z77 Extreme4 is considered a budget Z77 motherboard/mainboard that brings great value to the table at a low price point. Most Z77-based motherboards are similar. The main performance curves will differ based on installed GPU’s, RAM, processor, and hard drives. However, how these components interact with each other and the way power is delivered to these components has a large impact on overall performance. When examining high end boards, taking a look at feature set is very important. Features bring value to the table, and the ASRock Extreme 4 includes the company’s 555 XFast technology, plus excellent graphics support with the ability to run 4 graphics cards running two way SLI or CrossfireX configurations. The ASRock Z77 Extreme also features a dehumidifier function and a digital 8+4 power circuit to deliver a stable power flow to your attached equipment.
So what else does ASRock Extreme4 bring to the table? This board brings XFast 555 technology that include XFast LAN, XFast RAM, and XFast USB. These technologies allow you to experience increased RAM performance, set priority access to programs that access the web (lower latency for games) and increase USB 3.0 performance for attached storage devices. For gaming, you get support for Quad SLI or CrossFireX, but only by way of super high end cards such as the GTX 680, or comparable high end models. However, purchasing this many cards will bump you into the $2000 range, and if you’re looking to spend that much on graphics alone, chances are you will be choosing a super high end option like the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 motherboard. As far as overclocking goes, this motherboard can handle 1ghz+ increases under optimal conditions.
Warranty and Accessories
This piece of hardware competes with high end motherboards. That being said, its cost is on the low end of its competition and the packaging and accessories reflect that. The usual documentation and cd software is included. When it comes to hardware, you’ll find a pair of SATA cables, SLI bridge connection, and input output shield. You’ll get Three years limited parts and labor included with the LGA1155 Z77 Extreme4.
Summary: Solid Performer that competes with the big boys at a low price. Looking for the best sub $140 motherboard? You may have found your solution.
