Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 Gaming Motherboard
The GA-Z77X-UP7 is a high end Z77 mainboard (designed for LGA 1155 processors) that targets overclockers. This motherboard contains some serious horsepower – it can deliver an incredible 2,000w of power if needed! Looking at RAM , this mobo supports up to 32GB of DDR 3 RAM over clocked to 2400MHz. The design and large spread of the E-ATX form factor does not inhibit wire management or hardware installation, but this means you will need need a larger rig case because the E-ATX form is slightly larger than the traditional ATX layout.
Packaging and accessories
There are a lot of accessories included with this gaming motherboard including six SATA cables, wifi and bluetooth kit, two wifi antennas, flexible and hard bridges for 2-4 way Nvidia SLI and CrossFireX graphic configurations, adapter cables for manual voltage monitoring, and more.
This gaming motherboard is big. It is an E-ATX configuration (slightly larger than normal ATX) so please be cautious when selecting a rig case. The added size allows even the largest graphics cards (such as the beastly behemoth Radeon 7970) to fit easily with plenty of ventilation room between them. Gigabyte is kind enough to include caps for all of the rear ports for preventing dust build up when not in use.
This board uses the intel socket 1155, compatible with IvyBridge and SandyBridge processors for easy plug and play. The Up7 includes an impressive amount of ports including 1 PS/2 keyboard/mouse port, 1 D-Sub port, 1 DVI-D port, 1 optical S/PDIF Out connector, 1 DisplayPort, 1 HDMI port, 6 USB 3.0/2.0 ports, 2 RJ-45 ports, and 6 audio jacks inputs.
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 Features
Gigabyte adds a lot of extras for overclocking junkies, such as smart buttons that change the Voltage Measurement Modules. The board is marked with voltage testing points so you can use the included cables to monitor all your high end equipment. All of the mobo over-clocking tools are located in one central area for easy benchmark testing. This board is designed for overclocking so it’s no suprise that Gigabyte included digital processor voltage regulator circuitry which works in a 32+3+2 configuration (32 phases allocated for the processor alone, 3 for the integrated graphics core and 2 for the VVT – which is great for handling data when overclocking). When it comes to dedicated graphics, two graphics card can work at full PCI express x16 speeds! Additionally, you can also run four dedicated cards at x8 speed in a 4-way CrossFireX/SLI set up. Looking for storage? Eight SATA Plus and mSata connector lets you get creative with super fast RAID hard drive configurations. The included WiFi dual antenna lets you avoid those wifi dead spots in your work area.
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 Warranty
Gigabyte offers an extensive three year warranty on all motherboards.
Summary: The Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 is a high end overclocking behemoth that is designed for breaking speed records and will handle anything you throw at it.
