Thunderbolt is a powerful technology that combines DisplayPort and PCI Express into one connection, transmitted over one cable with speeds up to 10GB/s. Thunderbolt can be used with advanced monitors, super quick hard drives, and even external GPU’s. Although introduced in 2012, thunderbolt ports are still somewhat rare in laptops and ultrabooks.
